Patricia Peel

Obituary of Patricia Marie Peel

PATRICIA MARIE PEEL

née Evans

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Patricia announce her peaceful passing, on May 16, 2023, in Toronto, Ontario, at the age of 73, after a courageous fight with cancer. Patricia was born in Beaverton, Ontario on October 27, 1949 to Myrtle Evans (nee Currie) and Frank Evans (both deceased). She is survived by her daughter, Christiane Nilsen (Todd) and her son, Adam Peel (Rita), Grandma/Nana/Baba to Nathan, Jessica, Kyle and Sasha, younger sister of Walter Evans (Donna), and older sister of James Evans (Kim), and Edward Evans. Predeceased by her younger brother, Douglas Evans.

At the time of her passing, Patricia was retired from her job as a professor at the University of Guelph-Humber, where she much enjoyed teaching her students about the world of business. Patricia was one of a kind, a "unicorn," and a free spirit. She was always up for an adventure, a world traveler with a major interest in anthropology, fossils and wildlife. Her most memorable trips included travel to the Galapagos Islands to celebrate her 60th birthday, as well as her month in Spain on an archeological dig at the age of 70. She spent her first two winters after retirement in her new home away from home in Puerto Vallarta, where she continued to live life to the fullest, making new friends and enjoying lots of margaritas. Beyond all that she achieved and experienced, being a mom and grandma were her greatest joys.

While there are so many people to thank for their continuous support for mom during her illness, special mention goes out to Gabi, Kevin, Pat and Doug.

A Celebration of Life is planned for Thursday, May 18, 2023 at Amica Bayview Village, 15 Barberry Place, Toronto from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.

A private family interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in London, Ontario will be scheduled at a later date, where she will be laid to rest with her mother, Myrtle and younger brother, Doug.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the March of Dimes or the Canadian Cancer Society would be welcome.
