AASA MAY SULD

With great sadness we must say Aasa May Suld of Scarborough, Ontario passed away on May 5, 2023, almost a year after the death of her beloved husband Kaljo, to whom she was married to for over 60 years. She loved her children deeply, Clifford (Elizabeth) and Ingrid. She adored being Memme to her grandsons John, William and Alexander. Loved Aunt of Philip and Lisanne and their daughters, Elisse (Trevor), Olivia (JC) and Hannah. Thank you isn’t enough to say to the staff of Sunnybrook Health Science Centre’s Hematology and ICU units for their wonderful support and care during the last five weeks.

Aasa and her family fled Estonia in September, 1944. After difficult years as a refugee, first in Sweden and then in Alberta, Canada, her family eventually moved to Toronto where she lived the rest of her life. She enjoyed music, singing in choirs from her teen years onward, worked as a Bell “Call Girl” for many years and then at CIBC in various roles. But her first priority was her family.

She married Kaljo in 1962 and they settled in one house for the next 60 years. They raised a close family and shared their strong faith in Jesus Christ with their children and grandchildren. She loved to laugh, was mischievous in her own right, watched wildlife in her own backyard and was always there to talk, support and care for her family.

The family will receive friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home A.W. Miles – Newbigging Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville) on Friday, May 12 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Her funeral service and reception will be in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 13.

If you wish to make a donation in memory of Aasa, the family requests funds in support of the Ontario SPCA.  Condolences may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com.
