Obituary of Marybelle Edwards

It is with great sadness that the family of Marybelle Edwards announce her passing, while surrounded by family, on April 9, 2023 at the age of 91. 

Marybelle was born on October 13, 1931 to Ben and Bessie Chisholm in Goderich, Ontario. Dear mother of Mike (Mona), Barb (Steve), and Elizabeth (Jim). Cherished grandmother of Jennifer (Edward), Lynn (Rob), Stephanie, Tim (Jade), James (Chelsea), Josh (Vicky), Tashawna (Sanjay). Affectionately known as GG to her nine great-grandchildren: Katelyn, Natalie, Nathan, Olivia, Madilyn, Layla, Xavior, Hayden, Marley. Remembered by brother Don (Fran) and sister Diane (Nigel) and many nieces and nephews.

Marybelle was predeceased by her husband, Mel Edwards and brother Grant Chisholm (Wilma).

She was happily married to Mel for 56 years until he passed away in 2009.

Growing up, Marybelle played softball, hockey, volleyball, and was involved in track and field.  Sports provided Marybelle with some of her fondest memories. She loved hosting family dinners, especially during the holidays, and she made Banff Road everyone’s home away from home.  Although she raised her children in the city, she was always a farm girl at heart. She will be deeply missed, but remembered in our hearts.

The family will receive friends at the Humphrey Funeral home A. W. Miles  - Newbigging Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 17th.  Her funeral will be held in the chapel at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18th.  Interment Mount Hope Cemetery, followed by reception in the Rosedale room of the funeral home.
