Obituary of Victoria Floras
It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Victoria Floras in Toronto, the city of her birth, on April 6, 2023, in her 95th year. Daughter of Stanley and Rose Geleff, she was predeceased by her sister Thelma and her two brothers, Tom and Bruce, and by her husband of 63 years, Frederick Floras QC. Selfless and forever optimistic, Victoria was the loving mother of John (Anita Karrys), Judy (Tim Rance) and Stanley (Lynn Mark); proud grandmother of Alexandra (Ben), Stephanie, Vanessa (Ted), Andrew, Caroline (JP), and Claire; and great grandmother to Sophia, Nicholas, Steven, Victoria, and Lily. She was a happy child within a caring family, who enjoyed school, church, and choral singing. After graduating from Jarvis Collegiate, she worked at the Toronto Star until she and Fred married in 1952. She enjoyed mothering, cooking, baking, hosting dinners, and her over 70 summers at Georgian Bay or Lake Simcoe. Once assured that her children’s careers were launched, curling and bridge at Thornhill Golf Club expanded her circle of friends and travel companions. She reminisced often on her happy courtship and early years with Fred and assured us to the end that she had enjoyed a wonderful life.
