Obituary of Sigrid Riko

Sigrid Riko died peacefully in her sleep, on March 20, 2023, at Providence Healthcare, with her nurse holding her hand.

She was born at Narva, Estonia on June 12, 1923.  She escaped from Estonia to Sweden in 1944 with her parents (Emilie & Juhan Joesaar) and husband (Helmuth Riko), all of whom have predeceased her. From Sweden she and her husband and daughter (Krista Riko) immigrated to Canada, first to Edmonton, then to Hamilton and finally to Toronto, where she lived the rest of her life.  For many years she worked at the CIBC until she retired.  She and her husband enjoyed many happy times at their cottages and travelling to Sweden and Estonia.  When she retired she spent many happy years at Revera Leaside seniors residences.

She leaves her daughter (Krista Riko) and friends in Toronto, relatives in Estonia and friends in Sweden.
