Dear members of Sheila’s family,
You have written a lovely tribute to a life beautifully lived. I’m so grateful for the friendship I had with her.
When I came to Toronto as a young bride in 1965 I met a fellow Christian Scientist, Margot Gordon, who had been a war bride from England. She and her husband suggested that I get to know a friend of theirs, - Sheila. Our paths did cross in various ways over the years, but it was in our later years that they came together. We both enjoyed music and I learned that Sheila especially enjoyed the Elora Festival in the summer. We went together during a few summers. Over several years we also attended Mooredale Concerts in Toronto. Attending with Sheila enriched my experience because of her deep love for and understanding of what we were hearing. I knew Sheila had sung with a some choral groups over the years and was delighted when she joined the Society of Singers. This group, with which I also sang, performed concerts in seniors’ residences. Sheila and I had periodic lunch dates, after which we would walk in the park near her condo. We would check on her gardens surrounding the two trees planted to honour her parents and also the delightful miniature garden planted in and around a hollowed out tree stump.
Sheila lived her life with kindness and with thoughtfulness about every detail. What a valuable legacy!
