Dear Margaret and Family,
Lynne and I are deeply saddened to hear of Tony's passing. Tony was an inspiration to me as I learned to teach -and paint- and he continues to be a powerful force with scores of students and painters alike, when figurative art is the topic. He will be missed, and remembered with respect.

To Margaret, Georgia and the rest of the family-
Alan and I were devastated to learn of Tony’s death.
Since meeting him through Jared Sable, so many years ago, he was always such a smart, present and fascinating man. We always admired Tony as a brilliant artist, and a bright light in Canadian art. May his memory be for a blessing.

Firstly my condolences to Margaret and the 'children', who must be pretty big now. What a hole it must be. I hope he didn't suffer. Tony was someone who was really there there; there are interactions one had with him decades ago that seem like yesterday. For better or for worse, he stayed with you in your mind.
Rest in peace
Ian

This is devastating news. My heart goes out to you, Margaret, Georgia, and the rest of the family. Tony was such a larger-than-life figure with a tremendous creative drive. He had a big heart for making time to have meaningful conversations with people. The compelling innovations he made in the art world are vast and incalculable, unravelling psychological and historical meanings in the world. A fascinating man with seemingly boundless energy. We will miss him very much.

So very sorry for your loss Margaret. It was always fun when Tony attended our drawing crits at U of G in the 90’s. Learning of his passing was such a jolt. Love to you and your family.

Dear Margaret and Family. Sending my condolences during this sad and devastating time for you all.
As a student, Margaret, you always brought Tony to talks/events with a sense of easily felt pride. Tony contributed, always leaving a further curious marks in our minds with deeper questions and acts of viewing. In personal talks with Tony, food and Art always laid the foundation for inspiring moments of further appreciation. And of course, one could always taste his paintings; depicting food or otherwise. Take care in this shifting life force time. Gary Spearin
