Obituary of Barbara Anne Armstrong

BARBARA ANNE ARMSTRONG

(née Johnson)

January 16, 1941 –

February 10, 2023

Barbara passed away peacefully, at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, under the care of family and physicians.  Barbara will be remembered for her indomitable spirit, love of helping others, gentle nature and old-fashioned level of class.  Daughter of Dr. Walter Johnson and Lois Johnson (nee Thompson). Dearly missed by brother, Dr. David Johnson; daughter, Jill Kinney; son, Geoffrey Armstrong; and son, Jamie Armstrong.  Loved by grandchildren: Trevor, Emily, and Hannah Kinney; Heather and Hilary Armstrong; and Nathaniel and Lucas Armstrong.

Cherished friend and colleague, loved by her partner, Imre Nagy, and many more at Royal LePage where, for more than half her life, she dedicated her passions and energy.

Born in Washington, D.C., raised in Toronto, with family from the Maritimes (especially St. Andrews-By-The-Sea, N.B.) and Québec.  Studied fashion at Ryerson Institute - however dedicated her later life to helping friends and families find homes.   Full of life and laughter, Barbara loved visits with friends, chocolate, fashion, reading, skiing, exotic travels and bicycling on the waterfront.  Her happiest moments were in the company of those she loved. 

Light a candle in her memory that will never go out.  She will join with us in Eternity.

A private service for family will be held at a later date.
