Joseph Paluska Sr.

Obituary of Joseph John Paluska Sr.

It is with profound sadness that the family of Joseph John Paluska Sr. announces his peaceful passing on February 16, 2023 at the age of 97 years.

Joseph was born on April 22, 1925, to parents Albina (nee Bohunicka) Paluska (1903-1977) and Vendel (1901-1973) Paluska in Vel'ké Surovce, Czechoslovakia. He and his brother Victor Paul (1927-1996) grew up under the care of his mother and grandmother until they immigrated to Depot Harbour, Canada in 1937. He grew up watching his father work on the railway and eventually the family resettled in Toronto. As a young man Joseph joined the military in regiment B-635720. It was during this time that he met Agatha (nee Lancy) Paluska (1927-1997), his beautiful wife of 49 years. Together they had three children Joseph Junior, John and Darlene.

Joseph was a hardworking family man who played an active role in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren's lives. Joseph had a love for nature and enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time at the cottage and travelling. He enjoyed watching sports and was the best hockey commentator. His love for music carried him through his life. When he was younger he loved to dance and play the harmonica and as he got older he was always humming a tune.

Joseph will be lovingly remembered by his children: Joseph Junior, John (Maie) and Darlene (Norman); grandchildren: Adam (Ashleigh), Alexander (Evelyn), Erik, Ashley (Jay), and Ellysha (Matthew); great-grandchildren: Caterina and Adelina; as well as numerous relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm with a funeral mass, interment and reception immediately following on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Humphrey Funeral Home A.W. Miles - Newbigging Chapel, 1403 Bayview Ave, East York, ON M4G 3A8
