Ian Anthony

Obituary of Ian Andrew Anthony

Ian Andrew Anthony, 53, of East York, Ontario passed suddenly on February 11, 2023. He is survived by his dearly loved wife, Marge Correia, brothers Alan (Karma) and Owen (Jennifer). Uncle to Jessica, Matthew, David, Caraline, Emily, Laura, Amy, Eliza, and Charlotte. Predeceased by his parents William George and Rev.Grace Coleman Anthony.

Ian was born on August 4, 1969, first grandchild to Stanley and Marion Coleman and third grandchild to Dr. George and Rose Anthony. Ian had a special interest in genealogy which prompted him to research and prepare a detailed family history for both sides of the family. Throughout this process he was delighted to connect with extended members of the family. Family was very important to Ian and he took great care to find gifts of personal interest to his family members.

Ian graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1992 with a degree in Political Science and History. He then proceeded with a second degree from Humber College. He was very proud of his position as the Corporate Historian for Rogers Communications as well as the Rogers family historian. However, his greatest passion was writing; he wrote several books including a biography of Ted Rogers as well as science fiction novels. He shared his expertise and skills as a writing professor for many years at Durham College and was respected by his students.

Ian had a vast network of friends and acquaintances. Whether work colleagues, extended family members he maintained a relationship. He showed his love to his immediate family members by showing his interest in their lives. Ian recently fought a valiant battle with cancer in the brain and faced the diagnosis and treatment with optimism and grace. He was a devout Anglican with a strong faith who was very involved with his church, Grace Church on-the-Hill. Ian: know that you were loved and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew you.

The family will receive friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home A.W. Miles – Newbigging Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville) on Tuesday, February 21 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Grace Church on-the-Hill on Thursday, February 23 at 1:30 p.m.
