Obituary of Patrick Albert Jordan
PATRICK ALBERT JORDAN
August 24, 1938 – February 6, 2023
Passed away, peacefully at Briton House Retirement Residence in Toronto, Ontario on February 6, 2023, in his 84th year. Predeceased by wife Mary (2008), daughter Deborah (2022), sister Fran (2015). Patrick is survived by his beloved sons, Bill (Teresa) and Lawrence (Marie); his grandchildren, Christine, Tyler (Chenda), Andrew and Mathew; his loving brother Bill (Marg), son-in-law Todd Godin; and nieces and nephews Sean (Michelle) and Kelly (Jeff).
Patrick graduated from the commerce program at the University of Toronto in 1960, where he continued his studies and became a certified chartered accountant in 1964, and received the CFA designation. He started his professional career working at the accounting firm Clarkson Gordon, which at the time was considered the pedigreed accounting firm nationally for the Canadian business elite. The company was known for creating the “Clarkson Man,” aka the gentleman accountant. After a few successful years as a “Clarkson Man,” and his steadfast work ethic, his career progression continued by becoming the Controller for Dominion Securities and then the Bank of Nova Scotia. He would spend most of his professional career, and have his fondest memories, working as the CFO for Morneau Shepell, where he helped and supported its leadership for it to become the national company that it has become today.
His career as an accountant was not just a job for him, it was also a passion to help support the community where he could. Such as in his early years of moving his family to a small town in the ‘70s called Mississauga and helping raise funds for the local community center. Or in his retirement years, by working for Providence Center and helping run several successful fundraising Providence Center Spring Festivals, where he was never one to turn down the opportunity to get himself into a “Dunk Tank” if it could raise a few more dollars for the festival. Later in his retirement years, his passion for accounting continued; this time working with the Archdiocese of Toronto, St. Augustine’s Seminary and Canadian Catholic Bioethics Institute. His work over the years helped him to be sponsored to become a Knight of the Order of the Holy Sepulchre, which he was very proud of to this day.
He enjoyed making a lifetime of memories at Thunder Beach with family and friends, where he enjoyed going to the yearly Maple Syrup Festival or occasional boat trip one of the nearby islands. He was also actively involved with The Committee of Adjustment of Tiny Township and had made several deep relationships with local community members.
A private family service was held at St. Anselm Church. A celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
