Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of a great humanist researcher, a scholar of the Renaissance and a Renaissance scholar known nationally and internationally for her work. Please accept this expression of my admiration for Dr. Kushner's leadership in universities across the country and this note of sadness at the loss of a friend. Eva was a marvel of energy, discipline and brilliance. She always supported those in need and loved being surrounded by family, colleagues and friends with whom she shared her love of literature, the arts, music and critical thinking.
She will be greatly missed.

Eva Kushner played an instrumental role in helping literary scholars from Central Europe join the international academic community in the 1970s. She frequently attended conferences and gave guest lectures in the region. The University of Szeged appreciated her dedication by offering her the Doctor Honoris Causa title in 1997. She also served as bridge between cultures in Canada and Central Europe by editing the first anthology of Québec poetry translated into Hungarian and Czech languages. For me personally she was a role model as highly respected academic, beloved family member and helpful friend with a good sense of humour. It is with deep sorrow that I now have to wish her rest in peace.

We adored Éva for her kindness and her availability and her strong desire to see us, on each of her many visits to France. Her human qualities were indeed matched only by his impressive intelligence, culture and capacity for work!
Her studious days at the National Library in Paris were always interrupted by the good times Eva wanted to spend with her family from France. Éva regularly came to see us in Gironde, the land of François Mauriac whose work she studied so much.
We think very fondly of our dearest KUSHNER family from Canada and California.
Paul, Dominique ZARUBA, Juliette with Damien, Agathe and Arthur, Caroline with Guillaume, Éva and Soline, Romain with Héloïse, Augustine and Blanche will think of you with all their hearts.

Condolences to all of the family. I have fond memories of Eva's gentle kindness during the years I visited with her in a professional capacity. Always a hospitable cup of tea, and a patient discussion. I never felt talked down or not heard.

When I first started working at Victoria College, Dr. Kushner was one of the most friendliest people I met. It was always a pleasure to assist her when she needed my help. I miss seeing her walking about the campus. My deepest sympathies to her family.

From the day I first met Eva in person back in 1984 (at a conference I had co-organized in Toronto), she became a fixed star in my firmament. She was a reliable point of reference, an invaluable mentor, and a cherished friend. When we were together, whether chatting or working as the case might have been, there was a connection that went beyond the scholarly and academic worlds that had brought us together. I will always be grateful to her for the opportunities she offered me, the support she generously provided for me, and the affection that nurtured our friendship. May she rest in peace and may her memory always be a blessing.
