John Terry Aimone (Terry) died Tuesday January 24, 2023 following a brave battle with ALS. His wife was by his side. Loving husband and partner of Eva for 15 years. Proud father of Jennifer (Audoro), Sara (Ali), Christina ‘Cookie’ (David) and Francesco (Summer). “Nonno” to his cherished grandchildren Samantha, Ava, Andre, Elliot, Sabina and Luka. Lovingly remembered by sister Veronica ‘Roni’ of Vancouver, brother Peter (Elaine) in Toronto, niece Ashley, her children Jiana and Mario, and nephew Christopher.
Terry graduated in 1971 from Michigan Technological University with a degree in Mining Engineering. Starting is career in banking, he became Head of the Energy Department at First National Bank in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma overseeing Project Finance for mine development and rehabilitation as well as managing the bank lending portfolio of oil, gas and mining clients. In 1988, Terry became President of Heath & Sherwood Drilling, a Kirkland Lake, Ontario based drilling company co-founded by Terry’s father Francis (Frank) Aimone and E.J Marinigh in 1964. In 1993, Terry became President of Heath & Sherwood International in an International Economic Association with Geominera S.A. located in Havana, Cuba offering core drilling services (Cubanex) to the mining and mineral exploration industry in Cuba and the Caribbean. Following the purchase of Heath & Sherwood Drilling by Cabo Drilling Corp in 2004, Terry became General Manager of Cabo’s Mexico core drilling program and business development in the region. In 2008, Terry became the General Manager of Cabo’s Balkan States drilling program responsible for surface exploration and underground core drilling in the Balkan countries, the EU including Greece, Italy and the Iberian Peninsula.
Terry retired from the mining business in 2018, continuing to primarily reside in Albania with his wife Eva while enjoying travel to their favorite towns in Greece and the surrounding Balkan countries in addition to visiting family in Canada and the United States.
Terry will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his family and friends for his joyful spirit and sense of humor, enthusiasm for riding his Harley Davidson in as many countries as possible, his love of sailing, his exceptional culinary skills, his easy smile, his treasured family time especially at Lake Temagami, and his appreciation for every beach he ever set foot upon.
A private family service is being held at this time. Family will gather with friends in Toronto at a later date to celebrate and remember Terry’s life.
