Dearest Jim, Carolyn, Tom and Meg I was sorry to hear of Sheila’s passing and I send my heartfelt wishes to you and your children. I fondly remember Sheila organizing the st Phillips church women’s group in the interest of social justice. Sheila was ahead of her time in her interests and her strong leadership skills were admired. John and I enjoyed our social time with Sheila and George. I remember attending a birthday party in the stacks of the university of Toronto library - such a memorable time. Bon voyage to a great lady. I wish I could have attended the funeral. To the Connell family, we send our sincere condolences for your loss. Sheila was a wonderful lady who, (along with George) had a very positive impact on me at a young age. As a great friend of my parents, Sheila has always been special to me through my adulthood. Sheila was always very kind and welcoming when Janet and I had the chance to stop by for a visit. I consider myself a privileged woman to have had Sheila as a role model. She was one of the greats along with Connie Schwenger and my own mother. What an interesting, challenging, intelligent, dedicated, supportive, loving group of women. Sheila was my Sunday school teacher in the 60's during a revolutionary time for women. She listened to gripes and frustrations and provided balanced feedback to a group who felt our parents did not understand us. Years later, George and Sheila hosted our wedding in London. To this day, people tell me just how lovely it was. Both George & Sheila were very important to my parents. I hope they are enjoying a G&T together. Both Chris & I send our deepest condolences to the family, Hilary (Woeller) Shannon

I first came to know Sheila and George when we lived in London Ontario in the late 1970s. We reconnected when we moved to Toronto. Sheila was a warm and welcoming person. She was a very strong individual in her own right. My sympathies to the family. Spencer Lanthier
