I had the privilege to meet Mr. Richmond in the mid sixties. He was an executive with Canadian Pratt and Whitney in Longueuil, Quebec and I was the Navy test pilot for the production of the Sea King helicopter at the United Aircraft facility. Over the years our paths crossed frequently and we became friends. I respected his advice and no-nonsense approach to business. He was a talented aerospace visionary and his span of innovation stretched from the Tutor jet to the Canadarm and beyond. He was inducted into Canada's Aviation Hall of Fame and in 2019 into the Order of Canada for his pioneering contributions to the breadth and growth of our post WWII aerospace industry.
I was honoured to know Dick over so many years and extend, on behalf of my wife Gail and me, our most sincere condolences to the family.
