Stan was a great colleague and friend at Discovery, and I am happy that our friendship continued after we left our posts at Disco. I will miss our lunches at various diners and Asian restaurants, our gossip sessions, his gushing over his beloved grandkids and our long chats about the latest TV shows and films. We loved having a good laugh, and boy, did he have a unique laugh! I will miss him and think of him often. His service was a lovely tribute to Stan's kindness, his love of family and his plethora of interests. My condolences to Jacquie and his entire clan.

Stan was truly one of kind. Smart, witty, caring, loyal. A true friend, colleague and mentor. I was always better for spending time with him. Learning from his insight & wisdom. Inspired by his enthusiasm & optimism. Lifted by his sincerity & genuineness. Stan’s first love and priority was always his family. No man was prouder of his wife, children and grandchildren. He literally beamed when talking about them. Stan, you will forever remembered and loved. Thank you for everything you brought into my life and so many others.
Loved & Missed,
Toni (Stevens)

I had the pleasure of working closely with Stan for well over a decade. At Red Apple he was my boss, at Discovery/Animal Planet we shared duties as company directors and production executives, and later I became his boss. No matter what the formal title, Stan was first and foremost a creative and business collaborator, an inspiration, a trusted advisor and a darn good listener. I learned so much from Stan and he always made sure we had fun! My deep condolences to Jacqueline, Jacob, Adrienne and family. Stan will be forever in my heart.

I loved Stan. He was a powerhouse of inquisitiveness, good humour and imagination. He not only produced but mentored me through several TV shows, always patient and understanding when I threw my diva fits (even though it was HE who had to chain-chew Maalox tablets to get through the day), and in the process we became fast friends. His appetite for books was voracious, his views on movies and TV shows always generous and funny. He was also responsible for Jill and I starting a family (well, partly, at least!), telling us we'd be crazy not to have one and never letting up until we did. Even in his wheelchair, alive and kicking, he made me feel lazy and incurious. What a fighter. My sincere condolences to Jackie and the kids, all of whom he was immensely and justifiably proud.

Remembering Stan and his boundless good humour. He was one of the last true gentlemen in the TV biz. Always smiling and sharing his gifts. God speed.

Dear Stan, friend of more than 40 years, from Canada AM days to visits by your wheelchair. Always bright & full of comment, with a better grasp of TV storytelling than anybody I knew. Lover of fiction, jazz & graphic novels — he was a masterful judge of the popular arts with a deeply humane side, with a gift for friendship (he was a loyal friend to me during my health travails). I will miss you, Stan. Condolences to his wife Jackie, & to his two children whom he was immensely proud of. RIP.

He will always be 'Satin Stan' to me, That's how I first met him, in the Global parking lot in 1979, with Peter Feniak and Jimmy Borecki. His intelligence and wit would permeate the That's Life office and all those parties. Rest in Peace, Stan, you will be missed.

My deepest sympathies to all the Lipsey family. Stan was always one of my favourite dudes; I've known him for over 50 years. And although we weren't all that close, he was always a beloved part of the fabric of my life. Stan was always there and I'm already missing him. I pray the Lipseys will be spared further sorrow. Love, Sonny

Stan, I will miss enjoying lunch together in your favourite Scarborough restaurants, your gluten-free bread and green-tea medleys, your wise career advice and your TV show recommendations that were ALWAYS on point. I will miss our talks on industry news and seeing pics of your grandkids. The world won’t be the same without you in it but it was definitely a better place when you were here.

I am so deeply sorry to learn of Stan's passing. He was a bright light, smart and funny and the first person to explain the deeper symbolism of cinema to me when I was 15. Thank you dear Stan, we miss you very much.

I first met Stan in about 1982, when he was hired as the Producer of Thrill of a Lifetime, a CFTO production, and I was the Production Manager. We became close friends and remained close friends for 40 years. As everyone knows, Stan was one of the funniest, brightest and dearest people you could ever hope to know. Whenever we got together during the past few years, I would say, as we parted company, "I love you, man" and I meant it. I just loved him.
