Obituary of Robert (“Bob”) Aubrey Stewart
We are sad to announce the passing of Robert (“Bob”) Aubrey Stewart on Friday, November 11, 2022 at the age of 73, with his family by his side.
Bob is survived by his wife Liz, his loving sons Mike (Gemma), Patrick (Chantelle), and Richard (Nicole), and his grandchildren (who affectionately call him Grampa Bob) Juliet, Freddie, and Graham. He is predeceased by his brother Jim (Beth). Bob is remembered fondly by his extended family, his nieces and nephews, and many friends including Peter Beresford and John Weinseis.
Bob was born on May 6, 1949 to Aubrey and Mildred, and grew up in midtown Toronto. He attended Maurice Cody Public School and Northern Secondary School, where he was an accomplished student and athlete. Bob graduated from the University of Windsor, and went on to a successful career in business, as a consultant, and as an entrepreneur.
We remember Bob as kind, loving, loyal, and resilient. He had a passion for sports (particularly hockey and baseball) that he passed on to his sons and grandchildren. He loved music, and shared many moments with his family listening to classic rock records in the living room or tuning in to Psychedelic Sunday on Q107 during car rides. He was at his happiest when he was outdoors with family, whether at a Muskoka cottage, his back deck in Peterborough, or the Arthur family farm in Claremont. We have many memories of him on the water fishing with his sons, flipping burgers on the barbecue, teaching a slap shot on the driveway, and having a catch in the backyard.
As a family, we are grateful for those who have supported and cared for Bob over the years, including the teams at Retirement Suites by the Lake and Atrium at Kew Beach Retirement Residence.
Those who wish to join our family to remember and celebrate Bob are invited to a service and reception at Humphrey Funeral Home A.W. Miles – Newbigging Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville) in Toronto on Thursday, November 24 from 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm.
If desired, and in lieu of flowers, we encourage donations to be made in Bob’s name to Amici Camping Charity (AmiciCharity.org). Summer camp has meant a lot to our family over the years, and Bob would be touched to know he inspired the gift of summer camp for deserving kids and youth across Ontario.
Condolences may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com.
