Dear Peter, Andrew and all of the Stafl family
Please accept our sincere condolences for the loss of Dagmar.
We, and all of our family, consider it a rare privilege to have been
able to call Dagmar a friend.
She provided us with many a fun and informative morning of hospitality
at the 'Silent Woods'. In her later years, we were able to reciprocate by
picking her up at the cottage and bringing her here 'around the corner'
for a visit. Those were all very happy times with chuckles for all.
My Mom and Dagmar provided lots of entertainment in their debates
over who had the best 'walker'.
Dagmar was one of the most loyal and constant friends
we met up here. She always phoned to tell us she was coming up
or had arrived.
Dagmar was fiercely independent and one of the brightest, most engaged
women we have ever met. Every visit was an education.
We will miss her very much.
Our thoughts are with you all.

Dear Stafl Family,
When my Czech Mom, Ella Spanjer finally made her grand leap to Belmont House, she had the great fortune of having Dagmar as her neighbour. What a crazy coincidence that they were both the same age and spoke Czech. Although their paths were very different they both ended up together at Belmont. We took it as a wonderful sign of great things to come. Dagmar made the transition to assisted living so wonderful for my Mom. We are so very thankful for Dagmar - Belmont's best ambassador!
This was a life well lived, may your wonderful memories sustain you. A mother's love is eternal.
With Sympathy,
Linda Spanjer

Remembering a wonderful longtime friend who was always a doer and full of the most interesting and lively conversation. We met as parents in our childrens primary school. Dagmar was a true character and a joy to spend time with. Thank you for many fun ‘ladies lunches’ in our more recent senior years. I will miss you dearly! Love Kay

Peter and Andrew,
Our sincere condolences to you and your families on the passing of your mother. For many years, the Stafl family lived next door to us on Garfield and became not only wonderful neighbours but also cherished friends, and in fact, your mother and father attended many of our family functions. You all must be very proud of your mother's impressive accomplishments and outstanding career. We will all remember her with admiration and respect. We are keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers.

I am writing to Peter and Andrew,
I knew you as little boys when you were full of mischief. Although I am a Czech only by marriage, I lovingly remember both Gerry and Dagmar at this time. I used to speak with Dagmar quite often, and she even sent me a copy of her book. The Blue Suit and Dictionaries, which gave me so much insight into what Dagmar had to face just to survive.
My husband, Professor Victor Fic, Gerry and Dagmar were students in Czechoslovakia and great freedom fighters in 1948. I have known them for over 50 years.
At this time and always, she will be remembered with love and respect.
My condolences to both of you, and to Robyn and Martha, and to the grandchildren.
Love always,
Alexandra Fic

Although they were not blood relatives for all life I knew they as Uncle Jerry & Teta (aunt) Dagmar. There are too many fond memories to share. The farm in Caledon was always their unwinding/relaxing place.I'll never forget Christmas Eve dinners, a Czech tradition, where we always had Carp. Dagmar would also cook something for the non-fish lovers (my late father) just to appease them.I feel very blessed to have had a final visit with her less than a month ago. When I went I took our Lions Foundation future dog guide foster puppy with me & said to Dagmar, he's not a boxer but I know you love dogs.
Our sincere condolences to Peter, Andy & families.
She lived a very good life.

Please accept my condolences to the Stafl family on the passing of Dagmar. It is with immense respect and sadness that I recall Dagmar (and Gerry), much loved university friends of my parents Earl and Marion Orser. I hold fond memories of when Dagmar engaged us in thoughtful and probing conversations during periodic visits and at Christmas gatherings. As a graduate student at York University, I felt proud to know Dagmar, the honoured guest speaker, as she lectured from her expertise in supply channels. Our paths also crossed on the ski hill and, most recently, as Mom and Dagmar were residents of Belmont House. Dagmar showed her tender heart as they conversed about times past or simply shared each other’s company. An accomplished trailblazer, her professional achievements are impressive. Yet, it was her history about life before arriving in Canada with which I am less familiar. Thank you for sharing this information, information that, perhaps, fills in pieces of what made Dagmar such a compassionate, engaged, and caring soul. For me, Dagmar remains a model of how to treat others with kindness and generosity.
