Obituary of Jean Ruth Thomson
Thomson, Jean Ruth (September 14, 1926 – November 8, 2022). With great sadness, the family of Jean Ruth Thomson announces her sudden passing on November 8, 2022. Born in Brampton, Ontario, Jean was predeceased by her parents Louise (Sandusky) and Harold Stanley Thomson, and older brother, David, an RCAF pilot who died serving in WWII. Jean was an inspirational woman who touched family, friends, and acquaintances with her remarkable creativity, intellect, and deep care for the betterment of society. Trained as a registered nurse, Jean had a fulfilling career serving TCA, VON, and Ontario hospitals and public health units. Jean had great integrity, respect for others, and a genuine interest in people and the exchange of ideas. Her innate curiosity led her to travel extensively and to study art, philosophy, and history. Jean loved following politics and current events and placed value on holding a balanced and educated opinion. As a practitioner of Tai Chi, Jean also reaped the benefits of cultivating both her mental and physical health. She enjoyed her involvement in book clubs, seniors’ groups, the Don Valley Art Club, University Women’s Club, and Canadian Maple Wings, amongst others. Through her own art and hand-crafts, Jean mastered creative expression in many forms. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
