Shannon, I’m so deeply saddened to find out this news today. You were such a light throughout undergrad. We bonded in scenography class, and got to continue crossing paths by working on shows and in our other course work. I remember that day in scenography we had our “you have UC? I have UC!” moment, and then proceeded to walk and talk together about our experiences as we trekked through the snow during our class’s mini field trip to the water. From then on your were someone I could talk to unfiltered about everything, and we could find support in each other and what we were going through in ways other people couldn’t full grasp. I will forever look back fondly on all our shared moments, talking in the halls of Theo, in rehearsals at The Mansion, and just knowing there was someone else who got it. I will always remember your kindness and your smile lighting up a space. Thank you for your friendship, and I’ll always keep you in my heart. Sending love and condolences, Amanda

I can’t even wrap my head around your passing. The sweet, sad, hopeful memories we shared together eating 3x a day for 28 days. The walks together, the sunlight in your eyes.
You mentioned many times that I reminded you of your mom. That was truly a blessing because your mom raised you Shannon. She must be someone special to have given life to you.

I (Lee) was always happy to see Shannon at our Barnett family parties (the photo of the two of us is from Christmas 2015, I think) or up at my parents' place in Haliburton. There were always a lot of laughs. I live at Broadview and the Danforth, so I'd often see Shannon at the Pape & Danforth Dollarama, who, like me, was stocking up on candy.

I am so deeply saddened and sorry to hear of Shannon's passing. Shannon was such an amazing friend. She was always so supportive and accepting and always made it her priority to make sure that everyone was feeling happy and having fun. She brought so many people together and meticulously planned and organized so many amazing events. When I think of all the positive moments that I had when I was in school, Shannon was always at the center. I can so clearly picture her smile, hear her laugh and remember her dancing along to the Killers’ new album. I thank her for introducing me to the unique and satisfying snack of eating ice cubes and for my now unwavering love of swiss chalet bread rolls. Shannon’s basement acted as a second home and safe space for so many of us during this time in our lives. I will never forget the constant sleepovers we had, dancing, laughing and talking around in circles until the wee hours of the morning. I will also never forget the feeling of love and acceptance Shannon fostered in all of us throughout our lives. Thank you for everything Shannon, rest in peace.

They say that grief is the price we pay for love, and there is no doubt that Shannon was loved by many. From family to friends, and even Jazz, she had a profound impact on our overall childhood and high school experience. I can recall countless memories of basement house or pool parties, the candy drawer that was never left vacant (and perhaps fostered my love for candy), an extensive OPI nail polish collection that kicked-off every Friday evening, PizzaPizza with extra sauce, her typewriter-like handwriting, love for LHS cafeteria spicy fries, crushed ice and organization, and her eccentric personality, which was supplemented by her love for PunkRock/Emo music, especially Panic! At The Disco and The Killers. She was a vivacious soul, who always wanted to bring people together to create valuable memories. Her admiration of sentimentalism leaves us with an abundance of photos, which serve as collective evidence of such timeless events. A beautiful young soul, taken too soon.
Thinking of you Kate, Phil and Nolan, and hope that you can find comfort in the fond memories of Shannon, which are forever preserved in your hearts.

I knew Shannon from high school and I also was at Queens with her. I remember how full of life she was. Many of my fond memories from my high school drama class feature Shannon in them. I remember she was very kind and how warm and friendly she was to everyone. Every time I would run into her on campus at Queen’s, it always felt like a fond reconnection.

Shannon was a beautiful person. I always had massive respect for her and we got on really well. Wise beyond her years, genuine, and unapologetically herself. She was kind to everyone and made people feel good about themselves...I’ll always remember that. From high school to university, my friendship with Shannon was only happy, positive, good vibes.

Shannon and I had a lot of classes together in Grade 10, and I remember spending hours talking and working on projects and growing up. I didn’t know her much outside of then, but she made a big impact in my memories of high school. I found this note she shared in my yearbook, and it all flooded back. I’m so sorry for your loss, and I send my deepest condolences to all those closest to her. Know that Shannon touched so many hearts at Leaside, and those of us ‘94 kids will always remember her ❤️
