TerryLea (Terry) Anne Hammond

(nee Hazell)

June 10, 1948 – October 13, 2022

Terry will be remembered in the hearts of those who knew her as a devoted mother, dedicated teacher and a dependable friend. Terry and her sister Jeanne Hazell were born in Brantford, Ontario to their now deceased parents James Hazell and Kathylyn Kelly.

She leaves behind her two children with Frank Hammond, Quinn and Spencer, as well as her son-in-law Kevin Richardson, and grandchildren Frankie and Sonny Richardson.

How fortunate Terry was to know her sweet granddaughter Frankie and adorable grandson Sonny Richardson before her passing but so unfortunate they were robbed of more years together.

As a mother, Terry’s energy was ceaseless. She worked hard to make every holiday and family celebration memorable, showing her love through the treats she baked and meals she prepared. She was the Mom that read to you every night before bed, and knew all

the little tricks to make you feel better when sick.

Terry took so much pride in her job as an educator. She was lucky enough to teach in the same classroom at Cedarvale Public School for her entire 32 year career and even luckier to have taught some of the children of her former students. Luckier still, she made friendships with colleagues that lasted a lifetime.

Terry was blessed to have so many special friends. To say they enjoyed one another's company and laughed a lot would be an understatement. Shopping with her friends, whether it be a trip to Buffalo or the shops on Bayview, was like therapy for Terry. She took great care in her appearance and was well known for her signature black pants, crisp white blouse, and stunning jewelry. She was the epitome of elegance! It was several of these friends that took such great care of Terry after her diagnosis of Alzheimer’s, while she was still able to live independently. They made sure that she could continue to participate in the social activities that brought her such joy.

Losing Terry over the years to Alzheimers was not easy for family and friends and finding Chester Village as her home for the past 5 years was definitely a huge blessing. They cared for Terry in so many special ways and each and every member of their team made a difference in her life and for her family.

A celebration of life will take place in 2023.
