Obituary of Raili Margaret Charnesky

 

We are sad to announce that Raili passed away on October 13, 2022, at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, at the age of 86.  Raili was born in Port Arthur, Ontario (now Thunder Bay).  She was the daughter of Charles and Impi Virta, the sister of the late Olaf Virta, and is survived by her sister-in-law, Donna Delvecchio and niece, Judy (Gary) Bates.

                             

Raili worked in the Mining Recorders Office, Ontario Department of Mines, in Thunder Bay, and became the Mining Recorder for the Ontario Ministry of Northern Development and Mines in Sudbury and Toronto.  She retired in 1993 after 40 years of public service.

 

Raili will always be remembered for her delightful laugh, her generosity and her great love for her cat, Spencer.  She leaves behind many friends who will miss her deeply.  A reception will take place at the Humphrey Funeral Home A.W. Miles – Newbigging Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville) on Tuesday, October 25th from 1:00 p.m.  Interment will take place in Thunder Bay at a later date.
