Obituary of Kenneth “Kenn” George Chaplin
Chaplin, Kenneth “Kenn” George Chaplin- August 8, 2022
In his 63rd year and surrounded with love. Kenn was a longtime activist in the AIDS community and gay community in Toronto. He was also a member of Metropolitan Community Church of Toronto. He is survived by his sisters Lynn (Joslyn Howatt) and Janice (Randy Shiga), his brother-in- law Claude Lamontagne (pre-deceased by brother Craig), his niece Kailey and nephew Brennan, as well as many friends and extended family. Kenn was the son of Arnold and Madeline Chaplin of Perth, Ontario (formerly Valleyfield, Quebec) who both pre-deceased him. Many thanks to the recovery community of Toronto, Diane Frankling Co-operative Homes and MCC Toronto for their unconditional and unwavering support of Kenn over so many years. Many thanks to all of the staff and volunteers at Casey House who have provided such wonderful care to Kenn over the last several months. Special thank you to Rev. Jeff Rock for his care and support over the years. Thank you to John Whelan, Nicole Borthwick and Rick Skimmings for their friendship. Thanks to each and every one of Kenn’s Facebook friends near and far for the mutual support, encouragement and community that was available to him day and night! Kenn’s birthday was October 26th. Consistent with his wishes, a celebration of Kenn’s life – “a birthday party” will take place on Wednesday October 26th at 2:00 pm at Metropolitan Community Church of Toronto (115 Simpson Avenue). As this is a celebration of life, Kenn hoped attendees would wear colors (not black!) to the service! Internment will take place at a later date at Scotch Line Cemetery in Perth, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, donations to Casey House Foundation or Metropolitan Community Church Toronto would be greatly appreciated.
