Carol Wishart

Obituary of Carol Fraser Wishart

We bid farewell to the matriarch of our family, Carol Wishart, who passed away peacefully at Belmont House in Toronto. She is survived by David Wishart, her beloved husband of 69 years, her brothers, Fraser McKee and Ian McKee (Johanne), brother-in-law Rev. Dr. Ian Wishart, and sister-in-law Alison Sanders (Bob). She will be dearly missed by her children, Sue Grundy (Doug), George Wishart (Jan), Diana Cape (Andrew), and Derek Wishart (Erin McCafferty); her grandchildren, Anne Grundy, Rob Grundy (Emma Seaborn), and Ian Grundy (Kathleen Dykes); David Wishart (Kaitlin), Lindsay Wishart (Andrew James), and Jenny Wishart (George Desloge); Ginny and Caroline Cape; Patrick and Maggie Wishart; and her 9 great-grandchildren.

Carol grew up in Toronto, the daughter of the late Helen and Clarence McKee and spent her summers in Pictou Landing, Nova Scotia. After attending Havergal College she attended the University of Toronto, where she met the love of her life, David. Together they raised four children, spent their summers at their cottage at Go Home Bay and travelled the world. Carol was a devoted volunteer at St Andrew’s Church where she served for many years as a member of the breakfast team for the Out of the Cold program. She leaves a legacy of skilled handicrafts, especially her annual Christmas cards and spectacular quilted works.

We would like to thank the staff at Belmont House, especially 3 West, for their loving care over the past few years. The family will receive friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home A.W. Miles – Newbigging Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville) from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 7. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 8 at 3:00 p.m. at St Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 73 Simcoe Street, Toronto, with a reception immediately following. A livestream of the service will be available at standrewstoronto.org. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Out of the Cold program at St. Andrew’s Church.
