Obituary of Alexander Peter Meyer
ALEXANDER PETER MEYER
May 6, 1961 – June 11, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alex who died peacefully in hospital on Saturday, June 11th, with his brother by his side. He was a loving son to Kurt and Anneliese, a supportive brother and brother-in-law to Mark and Cathy, and a proud uncle to Emily and Will. He will be missed by all, including his extended family in Canada and Germany.
Some of Alex’s fondest memories go back to being a carefree teenager spending summers on Gull Lake.
He also reflected often on the many things he learned while on his great adventure of sailing the North
Sea with his Uncle Hans and family in the late ‘70s. During the ‘80s and ‘90s he played a pivotal role in
the success of his family’s business, Kem Oil Limited, founded by his father Kurt. Afterwards, he spent many years as a Ski Patroller at Craigleith Ski Club in Collingwood, where he made many lifelong friends, and spent his days building and renovating his own homes. More recently, he loved spending time on his boat on Lake Simcoe and the friendships he made there.
Alex’s love of good food and his desire to fill everyone’s glasses was known by all, his quick wit and big, generous heart will be missed by all who knew him.
A private family burial has taken place.
