Papken Tootikian

Obituary of Papken (Bob) Tootikian

Born December 25, 1947 in Kessab, Syria and passed away in Toronto on May 2, 2022.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the loss of Papken Hagop Tootikian, who passed away on May 2, 2022.  Papken was predeceased by his brother Avedis Tootikian and survived by his brothers Rev. Vahan (Rosette) and Haig (Anahis) Tootikian.

Although he didn’t marry, family was always at the heart of what he did. He was loved by his nieces and nephews and by his many great nieces and nephews. Uncle Bob, as he was known to most people, loved life, and was always seen with a warm and inviting smile on his face. Whether you knew him because you were a client of his, or just simply ran into him at the Oakville Longo’s you were always guaranteed to get a smile on your face. His smile was always an infectious one. Papken had a zest for life which was evident through running his business, Imperial Rug Galleries in Oakville, and in his love for ballroom dancing.  He could frequently be seen giving lessons to people in his showroom. Everyone would commonly joke with him that he was the unofficial mayor of Oakville. Sometimes it appeared like his office was the entire stretch of Lakeshore in downtown Oakville, as he was commonly seen talking with people outside of the store.
