MARGARET ANNABEL (PEGGY) EDMISON

Passed peacefully in her 100th year, surrounded by family. Beloved daughter of the late Charles and Eleanor de la Plante of Grimsby Beach. Fond older sister to Julie and sister-in-law to the late Craig Bowden. Predeceased by middle sister, Connie and her husband, George Bridle. Devoted wife of the late Harry Edmison, and loving mother to her four boys, John, Brian (Jan), David (Elizabeth) and Bob (Leslie). Adored Nana to her grandchildren, Alexander (Dana), Jocelyn (Rob), Stephanie (Eden), Laura (William), Ashley (Philip), Michael (Indira), Aaron (Sasha), Ashton (Jess) and great/grand Nana to Sophie, Max, Griffith, Elise, Peter, Steven, Riley, Ellie and to her great joy, a ninth great-grandchild on the way.
Mom’s life revolved around her family and community. She was a committed volunteer for the Big Sisters, Rosedale United Church (The Inglewood Group) and the Kawartha Park Chapel. If she was not volunteering, she could be found on the tennis court, at the bridge table or, on wintery Sunday evenings, curling with the “Plain & Fancy” at the Terrace. Her grandchildren quickly learned that Nana was sharp with cards and one of the best Skip-Bo players and coaches. Nana’s visits were always special because she was genuinely interested, supportive, and boastful of their accomplishments.
Summers were a special time, spent at the family cottage at Kawartha Park, where Peggy welcomed family and friends with open arms and her signature chicken tetrazzini. When not entertaining, she was bargaining for Canadiana furniture at the local antique stores or flea markets. Her treasures were lovingly refinished and adorned the cottage. Always an early riser, Peggy loved her summer morning dips in the calm waters of Clear Lake, sometimes to the delight of passing fishermen.
Mom had an effervescent personality; she was full of life and loved to dance. Although generous to a fault, Peggy would not spend money on herself, to her frugality was a great virtue. While sometimes outspoken on political and social matters, everyone knew she had a kind heart and always looked out for the underdog. She will be profoundly missed by her family and many friends.
