Obituary of Patricia Dawkins
Patricia passed away peacefully on February 8th, 2022 in Toronto. Loving mother of Keren (Carl) Brown and proud Nanna to Sadie. Sister to Sheila (Ron) Cook; Aunt to Steve (Julie) Cook, Helen Bishop, and Sue (Dave) Field; and great Aunt ("Grandma Pat") to Chris, Marty, April, Laura, Daniel and Amy. Patricia is predeceased by her husband, Ronald, with whom she spent more than 55 years, and by her parents Leslie and Daisy (nee Domeney) Burgess.
Born and raised near London, England, Pat met the love of her life, Ron, at a dance at the Ilford Town Hall in the early 1950s. They were married in 1957 and immigrated to Canada in the early 1970s. After working as a bookkeeper for more than 20 years, she, together with Ron, turned a long-time family hobby of ballroom dancing into an enjoyable joint second career. Over more than 15 years, the dynamic duo taught hundreds of students to dance, first through the Toronto Board of Education, and later privately. Pat and Ron travelled widely throughout North America, England and the Caribbean on family and dance-related trips, celebrating their golden wedding anniversary in St. Maarten a few years before Ron’s passing in 2011. No doubt they are overjoyed to be dancing together once again.
The Brown family wishes to thank the devoted team at Harmony Hills Care Community for looking after Patricia during the past five years.
