Diverting more textiles from the landfill? Scott was at the front! As an active member of the Ontario Textile Diversion Collaborative (OTDC), he fought to convince consumers to donate their unwanted clothes. However, he also shared our dream to have recycling facilities in Ontario that would manage garments not good enough for reuse. Scott hosted meetings, was a reliable supporter of workshops and celebrated with us when the honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant Governor, recognized our collective impact. He did this always with a smile on his face. Always polite and calm, and ready to step in when necessary. We are shocked and saddened of this news, and we want to express our deepest condolences to the whole Ebenhardt family; he will be missed.
In the name of all OTDC members,
Kelly Drennan and Sabine Weber, Founders of OTDC

Tracey and the Ebenhardt family,
News of Scott’s passing has shocked and saddened me. I was a classmate of Scott’s at Lakefield and his exploits on both the cricket and soccer pitches were indeed legendary. Unfortunately it has been many years since we’ve crossed paths, but through the crucible that is Lakefield Scott is a brother to many of us. His loss is felt deeply, my sincere condolences to you all.
Respectfully,
John Hayes ‘82

Is it with great sadness we at the National Association for Charitable Recycling (NACTR) heard of the recent passing of Scott. He was an original co-founder for the NACTR association in 2018.
While working for Diabetes Canada, Scott touched many lives in his professional life and garnered the respect and trust of all. He represented the NACTR board from 2018-2021 as Treasurer. He was instrumental in helping unite charities across Canada, whom work in textile recycling for fundraising in their respective organizations. He believed in our cause knowing we were having impact to so many social causes and the environment as well through diversion from landfills.
We were all so blessed to have known Scott personally and professionally. He will be greatly missed.
Our prayers and thoughts go to his family and friends.
Tonny Colyn
President for NACTR

I was moved by the celebration of Scott's life. I loved the memories and stories. They are exactly what I remembered of Scott. I met Scott back in 1975. I started at LCS mid year of Grade 7 and showed up to Memorial House Residence in January and was faced with living in a room with 7 other boarders. Our beds were maybe 4 feet wide and separated by a wooden divider. The person on the other side of me was Scott. I will always remember how friendly he was to me and that he was incredibly helpful in my getting settled in an environment that was frightening for a 13 yr old. I also played cricket with Scott from the beginning. In our last year he was a captain and exceptional bowler and I was the wicket keeper. He was a fabulous teammate and leader. I absolutely loved playing with him. Clearly he was much loved and will be missed. I will be making a donation to Outward Bound in his memory. My sympathies go to Tracey and the entire Ebenhardt family!

Dear Tracey, family and Friends,
Thank you for sharing your stories about Scott and Scott's poems with us. The service was so moving and filled with so much love it brought Scott alive in front of me. All of you spoke so eloquently and with much love and compassion.
Scott and I shared a great deal of laughs and some challenging times at Diabetes Canada but he was always so darn optimistic that the future seemed so bright. We also shared a love of competition, always wanting NDT to be number 1 in its field and he encouraged the best in me.
Thank you for giving me such great insight into a man I respected and admired.
Rick Blickstead (Past Pres and CEO, Diabetes Canada)

So sad to hear of this news, emotions and memories came flooding back. From that first day on the soccer pitch in 1978 we spent countless hours on the pitch in the bus and in the dorm living life to the fullest. A true sportsman, teammate and gentleman. We’ve gone our separate ways since 1982 but experiences will never be forgotten. Condolences to all of you. All the best.

Scott gave me my tour of Lakefield as a prospective student and I credit him for a large part of my reason for attending. He was kind, generous, and I could tell that he loved the place. I enjoyed our time on the soccer pitch together as well. Scott was one of the most talented goal scorers I ever played with. A great artist, athlete, actor - Scott was a student I looked up to and from whom I learned so much. Years later, I was so pleased to rekindle our friendship as players on Beachside United. He was still fast, still had that wicked sense of humour, and still as friendly as ever. It was like 35 years were gone in a day. My deepest condolences to Scott's friends and family. A donation to Outward Bound will be made in honour of Scott's life and legacy. James Darling

I was blessed to work with Scott at Diabetes Canada. He made all our lives better with his enthusiasm, integrity, passion, and compassion. He was a loyal supporter of the organization and a very smart entrepreneur. National Diabetes Trust would not have been successful without Scott’s vision and talent. DC owes much to his contribution. Martha and I pray for the family in these difficult times and offer our deepest condolencesA donation will be made to OutwardBound in his honour and memory. Test in Peace my friend. Scott was a personable, kind, caring person, dad and husband. We would discuss family issues and how our kids were on rides to games and talk about life, love and how Man U were going to need a better... xyz player. Always open and kind until he was on the pitch where he rocked his teammates into doing more, better, faster...
I will miss those rides, but never forget them...

My deepest condolences to the whole Ebenhardt family.
When my family and I came home to Canada after being abroad for 15 years, I found comfort and community at Beachside United Football Club. Scott was a great teammate. He was fast and skillful and competitive, for sure, but he was also just a really great guy.
Although I am greatly saddened to hear of his passing, I will forever remember his friendly, vibrant presence.

Very, very sorry to learn this news. As an LCS classmate, all these years later I still remember Scott's athletic abilities in particular. On the soccer pitch, he even had his coach in disbelief after one spectacular goal scored. He was so good at dominating the scoreboard that I think the rest of us simply got used to it. If Scott was aware of that, I hope it came across as the complement that it was. Away from sports, he was a truly adventurous and fun guy. Our Class of '82 has lost a remarkable member.

Broke my heart to get this news. I got to be Scott's neighbour for a while in the Beach (before I moved away). Scott was loving the fresh air and the walks by the water. I always felt guilty when I interrupted his footie on the telie. Cooper brought him joy (me as well). Talking about his daughters put an instant smile on his face. While I only got to know him for too short a time... I'm blessed to have had our lives intersect for the time it did. Best, Victor + Luka

So sorry and sad to hear news of Scott's passing. We had an amazing time together at LCS - ski racing, soccer, cricket and just hanging out. Scott was a real beauty of a guy - funny, friendly, loyal - we shared many good times. I remember with fondness the summers spent working at Allport Marina, living in your home, being allowed to leave work early to watch the World Cup and often getting up to no good in our off hours. Although our lives took us in different directions afterwards, these memories were always close at hand. Love and condolences to the entire family. Dave Kitchen

Was so sorry to hear of the passing of Scott. Was a complete shock! Living in Houston with my family I haven't had a chance to keep in close touch with my former classmates from Lakefield. Scott and I were in the same graduating class. Scott was the best athlete I ever saw up close whether being with him on the ski team or the cricket team. Our prayers are with his family. Jim Barker
