Obituary of Patricia Egan
On January 10, 2022 at 83 years of age Patricia Ann Egan peacefully slipped away while at Tiffin Chartwell, in Georgian Bay. She is reunited with her loving husband John Cameron Egan one month after his death.
Patricia was the youngest daughter of Marie Rose Blanche (née Huard) and Gilbert A. LaBine, also known as Canada’s Mr. Uranium. She was predeceased by brothers Leonard and Joe, sisters Lillian and Franny. She leaves behind sisters Helen and Margie. She was the loving Mother of Barbara M. Egan and John C. Egan III (Jay) and mother-in-law to Olga Lapshina-Egan. Grandmother to Alexandra, Jake, Jaime Egan and Elizaveta, Ekaterina Lapshina.
During her years in Toronto, she was President of the Women’s Hotel Association 1979 - 1981. Patty was also a 20-year volunteer councillor at the Donwood Institute’s programs for alcoholism and weight loss. Later in life she moved to their weekend home in Sturgeon Point, Kawartha Lakes where she and her husband John, built and operated Eganridge Inn and Spa. Her winters were spent on Longboat Key, Florida where she enjoyed tennis and shelling on the beach.
Her smile was contagious and she was always up for some fun. Patty had a caring and genuine interest in others. Family was the center of her life.
The family is planning to hold a “Celebration of Life Memorial” together with her husband John Egan Jr. in the summer of 2022. Condolences may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com.
