Obituary of Hilkka Culp

Hilkka Marietta Culp (nee Olkinuora) passed away peacefully on December 31, 2021, in her 92nd year.

Hilkka was born on April 4, 1929, in Schumacher, Ontario. Her parents, Armus and Maria Olkinuora, sailed from Finland to Halifax in 1928 to start a new life with their daughter Sirkka, aged 4 years. The family settled in Northern Ontario where Hilkka and her sister Ella were born.

Hilkka moved to Toronto where she enjoyed a highly successful career with the AC Nielsen marketing research company. She worked hard earning promotions to an executive in business operations, where she managed a large staff.  While in Toronto, Hilkka met and fell in love with Franklin Roy Culp from St. Catharines, Ontario. They had a very happy life together.

Hilkka and Frank enjoyed travelling, entertaining, and spending time with family. They hosted many family get togethers over the years. They had kind hearts and always provided a helping hand when needed.

Hilkka was predeceased by her beloved husband Frank (1995), and her sister Sirkka (2006). She  will be deeply missed by her sister, Ella, and nieces, Suzanne, Helen (Tom), Brenda (Earl), and nephew, Alan (Joanne), as well as great nieces, Nola, Jacqueline, Evalisa, Lauren, and great nephew, Dustin. Hilkka will also be deeply missed by Frank’s extended family in St. Catharines.

Hilkka’s family and friends will always lovingly remember her.

The family wishes to thank the dedicated staff at Amica Bayview Village for the care they provided to Hilkka. If you wish, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or the Canadian Cancer Society. Condolences may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com.
