Obituary of John Adams
On December 24th, 2021, after a brief illness, John passed away peacefully at the age of 90 surrounded by his family.
He was the beloved husband of Pat (nee Thompson) for 64 years and a loving father to Wendy (Wade Oosterman), Paul (Linda) and Leigh-Anne (Jim Copp). He was also the proud Grandpa (Bumpa) to Dennon (Jen), Peyton, Hayden and his step-grandchildren Bryn, Tori and Griffin.
John will be fondly remembered by his entire extended family that includes several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Patricia Scythes.
Born in Toronto, John made lifelong friends at Jarvis Collegiate; Camps Kilcoo and Ahmek; and the University of Toronto where he thrived on the Varsity hockey and football teams. Throughout his 60 year business career, he continued to love hockey, the lake, and learning through his passion for reading and history.
An eternal optimist, and always a gentleman, John’s kind and generous spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
As per John’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his 90 years well-lived will be held with family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, any donations can be directed to the Adams Sustainability Initiative at the University of Toronto.
