I am so sorry to hear the passing of Barb. She and my brother in laws father taught together ( what a small world) and was one of my longtime and favorite clients. I loved having her come in for some pampering. She always spoke of her family, her daughters , her grandchildren and great grandkids. She was so proud of all of you. She was such a funny and brilliant lady she knew something about every topic. She always asked how I was doing, she put you before herself. And never ever forgot what we talked about from our last appointment. She’s one in a million and I will miss her like crazy. We had such good laughs and she taught me so much about life. Goodbye old friend, I will miss our "same time next year" get-togethers (tax filing to clarify!). Barb had a good sense of humour and didn't suffer those who did things to offend. I remember her bouts with the next door neighbour who used to put his snow on her lawn and her Sister; Margaret, who smoked in the house when asked not to. When we first met I thought she was angry with the world but soon realized that she did have some health problems which come with age and marriage. After a time she mellowed and I can still remember her excitement at getting a new apartment and then a new car. She was excited as a little school girl. She wanted to travel but didn't want to go on her own. Finally she went with a friend and her nieces and regaled me with the details of her trips. She loved life and giving to others. Back in 1989, I met Barb my first day of teaching at Wilkinson PS. She was welcoming and supportive and we became friends. I eventually lived in her basement apartment on Lankin for a year and a half, while I saved up and I bought my own house. I will remember her fondly for her kindness, generosity and smiles...and that magnolia tree out front that she loved. She touched many souls. I am so sorry for your loss. Cindy McGee

I had the pleasure of getting to know Barbara at 1425 Bayview Avenue. She always had a smile and was genuinely interested in people’s lives. She was smart and witty and most importantly compassionate. She was always up for a new experience and enjoyed sharing adventures with close friends. My deepest sympathy to her family who will miss her vibrant presence.
