Adele, I was saddened to read of Kim's death. What accomplishments and what an incredible career he had. We met him only briefly when you participated in our documentary way back in 1981 when Clara was just an infant. I do remember Limbo Springs ! My sympathies to you, Clara, Max and your grandchildren.

My memories of Kim go way back to the 1960s in Nova Scotia at University of Kings College. We had great times together. He was always the brightest spark in the room. Rest in Peace, Kim. Gordon Cleveland

I’m sad and shocked. A wonderful friend. I got to know Kim for a while some five decades ago (!) as a comrade, colleague, and housemate. The house was in Montreal, on La Terrace S.Denis. Fond memories of devil music and us all playing surrealist games, the house it seems always cold with windows rattling, the wind howling up the hill. Before Limbo Springs, Kim almost daily on electric guitar, playing often (I recall) Dancing with Mr. D from Goats Head Soup. Then at the end of the day a short espresso with Irish whiskey.
A little after that in Peterborough I have happy memories too of co-teaching a large undergrad class with Kim on the sociology of the family. Many of the students were teachers racking up credits to meet newly introduced qualifications. A great experience for me, for the students also, though — with lots of Freud Marx and feminist theory — it may have taken a while to digest. Amazing to get a sense of his stellar later career humanising the digital world. Warmest wishes to Adele and all gathering to mourn Kim in Toronto.

Kim's importance to the present and future of humane computing in the world is immeasurably large, yet hard for those who did not know his work to see. More obvious to everyone who knew him, however, was his goodness as a human being. Kim was the best. A huge loss to the world, and especially to those who love him.
