My heart goes out to Joyce's family. Joyce was my counselor at Camp Tanamakoon when I was 15 years old. I remember her singing to us in the evenings before we went to sleep. I remember her directing weekly plays for Saturday night Theater Night. She was able to pull together a group of campers each week to perform a play and each actress felt special and successful. I remember her love of canoeing and her beauty and grace in a cedar green canoe as she soloed. May she rest in peace. She will be missed.

My condolences to Alison Kemper, Hannah, Robbie, and all of The Reverend Canon Joyce Barnet't's extended circles of family and friends. What a remarkable life to celebrate. Her obituary informed me about her foundational roles and contributions to make communities of faith and indeed, Canada and the world, more inclusive and loving places to be.
My relationship with Joyce was as a camper at Camp Tanamakoon. My memory of Joyce is her paddling out to rescue me as I drifted alone down the back bay. On that windy day, Joyce casually performed a canoe-over-canoe rescue and brought me back safely to shore. I remember the day well, including the dark water and sense of fear. This memory is just another example of a remarkable individual who touched many lives in her journey.

I didn't know Joyce, but after hearing of her passing from a friend who attended the same camp, and learning what a groundbreaking, upstanding and lovely human she was, I wanted to leave my condolences for her friends and family and to thank you for sharing your marvellous person with the world. We are all better for it. Peace.

My Sympathies and heartache for the Barnett Family on the loss of your beloved daughter, partner, mother, grandmother and sister.
It is through her sister, my friend Judy, that I know of Joyce. Joyce helped to steer Judy through the challenges that life presented. Joyce provided a loving and supportive, humorous force that my friend has and always will love her for. I have only met you twice and I thank you for looking after my buddy. Rest in Peace.
