I was saddened as I just learned of Peter's passing. My condolences to the Greene and CinqMars families, as well as the AGM "family."
Despite Peter's well-known anti-technology bent, it was my pleasure to support him in IT for many years at KAG and AGM. Good man. He will be missed.

I wouldn’t be where I am today without Peter’s mentorship and guidance. I was always in awe of his brilliant mind and I looked up to him so much. He was fierce, but reasonable and compassionate. Peter was one of the most generous person I have ever met. I remember one day he told me that he heard the story of a single mother who got into university on the radio and told me to look her up so he can make a contribution to her. I will miss him dearly. Thank you for everything Peter!

From our family to Peter’s, our condolences on your great loss. Thinking back, each discussion I had with Peter could be best labelled spirited and oh, his laugh! The Liberal Party was the stage for many interesting chats and catch-ups, and I am thankful for having known such a fine soul. From the Ottawa Valley we send our sympathies, and may Peter’s memory be a blessing.

My heartfelt condolences to Peter's family and to the Affleck Greene McMurtry team. Although I never worked in the same firm as Peter, I had the pleasure of working alongside Peter as counsel on various matters starting in 2005 and will remember his warmth, quick wit and advocacy skills. Like so many others who have shared their memories, I will particularly remember Peter’s generosity of spirit. Shortly after I moved firms in 2014, Peter invited me to an Affleck Greene McMurtry client event so that I could get some “face time” with clients in our field – a magnanimous gesture from a man who was a leader in every sense of the word. He will be greatly missed.

I met Peter when I joined Faskens in 1987. A friendship ensued in which Peter was mentor, wise sage and ringleader for so many good times and lasting memories. He was plainspoken and true. Never one to reserve his opinion (and there were many !) you always knew where you stood with him. He was smart, generous and so funny. He was one of a kind in all the right ways. My sincere condolences to Peter's family and friends.

We are so very saddened to learn this news. Our deepest condolences to the Greene family and to Peter’s extended AGM family. I was very honoured to know him, and will always hold fond memories of Peter’s warm personality, fantastic conversations, and gracious hospitality as he hosted the “Canada Dinners” at the SIFMA conferences over the years! He was a kind man….. indeed a true gentleman!
With our deepest sympathy!

Our sincere condolences to the Greene family. Peter played golf in the annual Ringers golf tournament at the Sand Point GC with his high school buddies. This event has been on going for 53 years and whenever Pete was able to attend, it was special as he always brought humour and fun. We’ll miss him.

My sincerest condolences go out to Peter's entire loving family, Karen, Leslie, Jenn, Olivia, Christophe, Glen, Jossie, Stephanie, Ginny, his nieces, nephews (and all their significant others), grandkids and all the CinqMars clan. He loved each and every one of you with his whole heart. Family was everything to Peter. He always said family comes first. He was such a generous person in every aspect of his life. He would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. We all loved Peter dearly and losing him so suddenly is devastating and a great loss to all who knew him. Peter and I had the best time working together for the last 35 years. I remember in my job interview the only question he really asked was did I play baseball. I was 26 at the time. We hit it off from the beginning. And I did join the Fasken's baseball team even though I was a terrible player. Peter would show up to some games and take us all for beers and wings afterwards. I was his right hand and have been there through it all. He helped me many times through difficult things and always had my back. We always made each other laugh, most of the time him shaking his head at some crazy comment I came out with. Peter was my boss and my friend. My life was so enriched because he was such a huge part of it and saying I will miss him is an understatement. How do you say goodbye to the person who has been in your life practically every day for the last 35 years. Rest in peace my dear friend.

I was very sad to hear about Peter's passing. My condolences to the family. In the early 2000s when I was a reporter at the Globe and Mail, Peter was helpful to me on many occasions. He would put legal decisions in context, provide comment on rulings, and often helped me sort through technicalities so my stories were more accurate. He was always willing to help, was always 'on the record,' and was a friendly and concise voice when I was on deadline.

My dear friend, mentor, and partner, Peter Greene, was an incredible person. I met Peter nine years ago. I was an eager articling student at his firm looking for a chance to learn from the best. Peter was the best. I am eternally grateful that he took a chance on me and chose to mentor me. I had the privilege of working closely with Peter for most of my career. During this time I not only received invaluable training from him but he gave me friendship and sage advice about life, the importance of family, and how to live. To Peter’s family, please accept my deepest condolences. I only had the pleasure of meeting some of you in the last few years but I want you to know he often spoke of you to me. He lit up when he spoke of you and I knew you meant the world to him. I will never forget him. Sending all my love to you.

Peter has been my mentor, my colleague and partner and, most importantly, my friend for more than 23 years. He was an excellent advocate and an even better person. I could tell stories for hours about Peter, his fierce advocacy on behalf of his clients, his sense of humour and how much he really, really loved people in all of their complexity and with all of their quirks and frailties. As much as I cared for Peter and will miss him, my sincere condolences go out to Peter's family. While Peter clearly loved the firm he founded and enjoyed the practice of law, it was always clear that Peter's family came first. I hope that Karen, Jennifer, Leslie, Olivia, Christophe, and all of his siblings, grandchildren and extended family can take comfort in their fond memories of Peter and a life well-lived.

My heart goes out to Peter’s family. What a tremendous loss. My family is thinking of all of you. Peter was such a wonderful human being. Generous, caring, fun, and smart, he genuinely loved life, and the people in his. He was friends with all. For nearly 24 years, I have had the absolute privilege of being his friend. There are no words that I could muster that would do justice to the profound impact he has had on my life. A wonderful mentor, a brilliant advocate, a gem of a man, Peter knew how to live life. He worked hard and laughed harder. He took his craft seriously, but never himself. He enjoyed the company of all, and made everyone who encountered him feel better. He loved holding court and did so admirably. He was truly one of a kind. There may exist a finer gentleman somewhere in this world, but I’ve yet to encounter one. I know his legacy will live on, and I hope I never forget his laugh. Rest In Peace my friend.

This World will never be the same without Peter Greene. My deepest condolences go out to Peter’s family and all who knew him. The concept of loyalty to friends was a like a religion for Peter. He was more fiercely loyal, supportive, and dependable to the people around him than anyone I have ever encountered. I am forever grateful for everything he did for me and for all the friends we have in common. I have so many great memories and stories of Peter that I will forever cherish. I will miss him dearly.

There are no words to describe the void left by Peter. All of us that loved him can recount endless stories of fun, travel, over-the-top experiences, fabulous parties, hockey games the list goes on. Peter was the stalwart we all turned to, he was fiercely protective, loved generously, included all, enjoyed life with no reservations, had strong opinions and took great care of us all. To all his wonderful family who we have had the luxury of being included in on so many occasions we offer our sincerest sympathies. We know how much you all loved Peter and how much he loved all of you. We will miss you Peter, thank you for all you have given us, Love John and Garren

Pete was my dear friend of fifty years. Half a century. How did it go by so quickly? So many wonderful memories. Dal days. Myrtle Beach golf trips. Sand Point weekends. Grey Cup trips. Hockey games. Irish lunches. Watching his family grow. Or just spending an evening enjoying good food and wine and even better conversation and debate. Many a night we fixed all of the world's problems with time and wine to spare. Neither years nor distance could diminish the relationship amongst Peter, Michael Sherar and me. A very full life well lived, a testament to which are the fond feelings and remembrances of those you've left behind. Donna and I send our love and condolences to Karen, Leslie, Jennifer, Olivia, and Christophe as well to Glen, Jocelyn, Stephanie and Virginia and their families. Physically you've left us, but you live on in our hearts and cherished memories. Rest well, Petey.
