I met my father in law for the first time the night Canada won the Olympic hockey game almost 12 years ago. We watched with a big group of friends and family, and upon the winning goal everyone leapt to their feet for hugs. A moment came where everyone else was embracing leaving just he and I, he barely knew me but it didn’t stop him from grabbing on to me and jumping up and down like little kids. He was fun from the start.
Since that day one of my favourite things to do was watch my sweet Al and his Dad love one another. I loved watching them laugh. He and Alison welcomed me into their home for many memorable holidays with all the “kids”, memories we will cherish forever.
What I’ll miss most is the laughter, and the smile on Alex’s face when he was talking with David. Life will be different without him, but we will make sure to keep the fun alive for D.
David, I’ll miss you. Al even more. I will love and care for your boy, and all your cherished kids as they navigate your loss. Always.

Dave always held a special place in my heart ... holding memories of the distant echo of childhood laughter muffled by Lake Huron’s waves and unending summer days.
May the wind always be at your back and the sun upon your face, and the winds of destiny carry you to the shores of Fair Oaks to dance in the sunsets

Our deepest sympathies for this tragic loss of such a wonderful and warm person. So many memories of our children growing up together and spending time together as families. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. David was taken way too early at the start of a wonderful retirement with Alison. His warm smile and good sense of humour will be remembered always. Mark ZIedenberg

I went to Ridley with Dave. I haven't seen him since 1969 and although he wasn't there for long I do remember him as a good team mate and I certainly remember his great sense of humour. So Dave, just for a laugh, I went through one of my old Ridley year books and found a few images of you as a Football player and member of the winning Track & Field team. I'm on his left in the 1St Football team photo, and neither of us is mentioned in the coach's rather dry and scathing, yet undoubtedly truthful, review of the team that year. Coach Burns was rarely seen to smile, let alone laugh. Hopefully these images will add a smile or two to this sad occasion. My condolences to Dave's family. He will be missed, I'm sure.
