Obituary of Thomas Colin Robertson
ROBERTSON, “Robbie” Thomas Colin (Ret'd Warrant Officer RCAF), passed away peacefully with his loving family at Sunnybrook Veterans Centre on Thursday, Nov 10th, 2021 in his 82nd year. Loving husband of Lucy Robertson after 57 years of marriage; proud father of both Sherry Robertson & her husband Paul Nazar, Fiona Robertson, and grandfather to Sophie-Joy. Lovingly remembered by his brother Ian Robertson & his wife Anne, and his many Cousins. He is predeceased by his middle daughter, Sandra-Joy.
Colin was a proud Canadian with a kind heart - he is well-travelled, had a love for reading, family road-trips, woodworking, and sailing; he was generous with his vast knowledge of Canadian, British and US War history; is known for his love of classical and bluegrass music as well as his appetite for home-cooked food. He retired after 33 years of service from the Royal Canadian Air Force where he started his career in Station Cold Lake Alberta, then CFB Ottawa; was then promoted to Master Corporal at CFB Trenton where he worked as Airframe Tech in 9-Hangar, in tandem with the Search and Rescue Team; following his promotion to Sergeant, he served a number of years at Spar Aerospace and De Havilland Aircraft at CFB Downsview until his promotion to Warrant Officer, and final transfer to CFB Trenton where he retired.
At Colin's request, a private family service will be followed by internment at Beechwood Cemetery. If desired, please direct memorial donations to the Sunnybrook Veterans Centre. The Sunnybrook Team who took such good care of him for the last two years, were also kind enough to share many stories of how they enjoyed his company, his amusing tales, they knew of many of our family memories and of his favorite music. Our family is forever grateful to know that his final years (part which were during lockdown without access to family) were spent with Staff who truly cared for and valued him not only for his Military service but also as a Friend.
Thank you to all our family, friends, neighbours and work colleagues who have been so caring during these last few days/years. As much as we prepared ourselves, you’re never really ready to say goodbye.
Rest in Peace our dear Colin. You will be missed greatly and forever loved by your family. Xoxo
