Our deepest condolences go out to you, Vesta, your children, grandchildren and all your friends. I worked for Bill and under him during my 18+ years in IBM Canada. I have some very fond memories when I worked for him including catching a few innings of a NY Mets game just before catching a flight back to Toronto from Laguardia. He was able to provide a great example of work/life balance which I tried to emulate in my remaining 12 year career at IBM. I'm sure you have lots of great memories of your life together which you can cherish for many years to come. Thinking of you at this difficult time.

Thinking of you and offering my condolences. I worked with Bill at IBM, where he became my mentor in the 1996. I remember fondly attending the Whitney Houston concert at Ontario Place and how we laughed at her fur jacket in late June.
Bill instilled his business lessons and opened doors for me throughout my career. I admired his insight, his coaching and his sense of humour. Bill sponsored many people during his career at IBM. I know my achievements are due to his personal sponsorship in me. Thank you Bill for all of your contributions to IBM and know I am remain grateful for knowing you.
Rest in Peace, Bill.

Joan and John Middleton - we both worked at IBM (that is where we met as well) and interacted with Bill for 25 years. Always had insight and took the time to mentor with us. He had a way about him that made you feel comfortable. We also had a mutual love of the Haliburton Highlands - where we are retired to now. John ran into Bill in summertime at the grocery store where he was expressing his urgency to get back to his place as family was visiting.
Our condolences to all his family and friends.

I am greatly saddened to learn of the passing of Bill McClean. My sincere condolences to his family. I worked for Bill in the last few years before I retired. He was a mentor for me and the best manager I ever had in 31 years at IBM. I had the greatest respect for him. He was a good man, an outstanding executive and leader, a top-notch professional, and a true IBMer who cared about his employees. A great loss. R.I.P. Bill.

Shaffina and I are so sorry to hear of Bill’s passing. We know it is tough on you and the families, especially the grand children.
Just a few days ago we were reminiscing about the many times we spent together with your colleagues and families.
Bill was so warm and gracious, and did so much for the business community in Canada. We did some great work together at the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters (CME) Association, and the Prime Minister’s Advisory Council on Science and Technology to transform manufacturing in Canada.
He loved and supported sports, and we spent time with his colleagues and friends at many a game, especially baseball, golf and tennis. He was also a great supporter of the arts, and we loved meeting business colleagues on the train rides to Stratford for the plays, and walks in the ancient town.
At a business meeting at IBM, I mentioned that our son, Ian, was heading to the London School of Economics for his MSc and PhD in cyber security, and was just about to acquire an IBM lap top. On Ian's arrival at his residence in London, a unit was waiting for him to pilot test for IBM; such was his big heart in support of students and the business.
You may remember once we were chatting casually about stage performers, and Shaffina said that her favorite was Tina Turner because of her energy on the stage and her self confidence as a woman. When next Tina was in town, Bill remembered and invited us to an amazing concert.
It was fortuitous that I met Bill at the CME, as it allowed us to meet a bunch of his business colleagues and friends, and do some great work, and do things that we would not have ordinarily done.
With warmth and support to you and the families.
Roland and Shaffina
