There is much to miss in our missing Anne. Her warmth, humour, positive energy, strength, endurance, smarts, intelligence, creativity, love of life and people made her an extraordinary woman. We shared a love of ballet, getting together in each others' homes with neighbours and friends over cocktails and dinners enjoying good conversation about books, politics, and the world. Her smile and eyes revealed a woman of compassion, caring, and commitment. We met Anne and Bob when we moved to the 10th floor of 55 Prince Arthur eight years ago. It was an honour and a privilege to know Anne and Bob. We will always cherish them separately and together. Love, Bev and Barry Wellman

My sincerest condolences to Anne's family. I have known Anne for about 30 years having served with her on the executive of the University Arts Women's Club (UAWC) for a number of these years. I quickly realized and appreciated her many admirable qualities. She was intelligent, gracious, forthright, kind and thoughtful. Her gracious and friendly manner was exemplified at the time I inherited the job of membership secretary from her. Instead of just handing over the books, she invited my husband Safwat and me to have dinner with her and Bob. Not only was dinner delicious but she and Bob were also better able to discuss some of the computer complexities of the job - a big help! Anne and Bob were a wonderful couple and a great match. On a number of occasions, Safwat and I joined them for the UAWC's Annual General Meeting at the Faculty Club and we always enjoyed these visits. I will miss Anne's friendship and insight. Laura and family -- I am thinking of you at this difficult time -- having just lost your dad and now your mom -- I am sure this is so tough. My only consolation is that somehow perhaps maybe your dad and mom are together and the suffering is over. But the process of grieving and healing will take time and have its ups and downs, without a doubt. I remember your mom's compassionate and caring humanity -- she lived such a full life. My hope is that our vivid and everlasting memories of her will give us all greater strength and commitment to strive for a full, compassionate and intellectually charming life. To the Family of Anne Farquharson, I was saddened to read of Ann's passing. This must be a challenging year for you - wity Robert's passing not so long ago. I knew Anne through the Holy Land Awareness and Action group - later the United Network for Justice and Peace in Palestine / Israel - at Trinity St. Paul's United Church. Anne was articulate and passionate in her advocacy. Anne and Robert were often hosts to the TSP group, inviting the group to hold meetings / have luncheons, etc. in their home. Anne was always thoughtful, caring, kind, generous and gentle. My best wishes to the family, Carol Rawson

So sorry to hear we’ve lost our Southern Belle. So lovely and gracious. Whenever our paths crossed at Victoria College or, indeed, when we were invited to an affair at Farquharson Manor, I always secretly felt she was especially happy to see me.
