Cher Jean Louis- There are no words to describe our sadness. A person that was so happy, so bubbly, and so full of life at all times to have left us, oh and did I forget, a great cook, I think the term," The more the merrier " must have been coined here in your household. How can we forget her dinner parties, she was happy to see us happy. We will miss her, that is an understatement, she was a fighter, but always with a smile. She left us but will always be in our mind and heart. We will always remember her. People like Rita cannot be forgotten as there are so many happy moments to remember.
I will donate my art to the Princess Margaret Hospital. Rita's name will be on the art.

Words cannot express how sorry we are all for the loss of Rita. She was an incredible woman and had such an impact on everyone she met. On a personal note, I wanted to thank Rita for the immense impact she had on my life. She helped me so much when I was diagnosed with breast cancer and was dealing with this new chapter of life. She gave me the courage to fight and especially to be strong emotionally, physically and mentally. She gave me a new outlook on how to deal with the cancer. My aunt Rita was truly a very unique individual who I will miss dearly. She was full of life, passion, vitality and humor like no other who always made me feel loved and cherished as she was part of my youth, my history and my culture. Uncle Jean-Louis, Eric, Val, Lucas, Sophie and family, I am so very sorry for your loss. My deepest sympathies and I send all of my love to you. Auntie Rita was such a special and incredible influence on me throughout my life and I am so deeply grateful for everything she blessed me with, her loving guidance, caring nature, incredible life force who lit up the room. Her care and empathy for others is truly something I will always remember especially with how she could make everyone smile and laugh...undeniably an amazing sense of humour who loved to have a good laugh and make us all remember to look for the good and to laugh. Auntie Rita was a huge mentor to me and like a second mother. I will miss her immensely and her beautiful legacy will live on in all of you and the people she touched. Dear FAMILY- Jean-Louis, Eric, Valerie and Stephanie (from above). Please accept my deepest condolences on the death of Rita- mom, sister, wife and friend. Words cannot express the grief over our shared loss. Rita was an incredible person who persevered through so much pain in her last years. She has always given her love warmly and freely, and was like my sister that I never had. We bonded instantly since we were first together in Sicily 1980, a lifetime ago. As my extended family, we have shared such special moments together without measure. We have laughed and cried together in joy and in the deepest and most difficult of losses. Such is this condition of those that survive. I say this to make you smile but it is true- I can see her clearly, with her accent and laugh in Heaven making angels laugh and cooking for them and sharing a glass of wine. Stephanie has her mom again, and we will be with them someday when it is our turn. Until then, cherish her in memory, and hold onto each other, especially in these fragile times. It with an aching and broken heart that I write this small and clumsy tribute to my wonderful adopted sister Rita who was needed by God to help Him, and also my adopted niece and nephew Valerie and Eric. And of course to JL my big brother. To Eric and Valerie- you are so very cherished and deeply loved. Take the loss of your Mom a day at a time. The pain is unbearable now- but in prayer you will be healed. Remember you have guardian angels here on earth looking out for you, and in Heaven. Rita was the first friend we made in Rosedale Glen, 14 years ago. She will be remembered fondly for her warmth, kindness, and sense of humour. Being invited to the Tourikian’s for a dinner party was a coveted invitation. Her culinary skills were legendary and Jean Louis kept our glasses replenished. We will miss her very much and feel so lucky to have been her friend for all these years.
