Jane was the elder of two children of John and Laura Medland. She is survived and much loved by her son, Rob; daughter-in-law, Lisa; brother, Bob Medland; and sister-in-law, Sally Medland. Jane cherished and was cherished by her granddaughter, Tory Emery.  Lovingly remembered by her nephews Andrew (Jeanne) Medland and John (Jenny) Medland.

She grew up in Toronto attending Bishop Strachan School and University of Toronto, Trinity College. She spent summers of her youth at the family cottage on Toronto Island and Glen Bernard Camp. Following Teachers’ College she taught French at R. H. King Collegiate. She enjoyed skating, hockey, curling and sailing. Jane was one of three instructors at the founding of the RCYC’s Girls Junior Club in 1956.
