Doris McKague

Obituary of Doris Elizabeth McKague

DORIS ELIZABETH McKAGUE May 7, 1928 September 23, 2021 Predeceased by her loving husband, Jim McKague, and her son, John McKague, she was the only child of Sarah and George Ferguson of Seaforth, Ontario. Doris aka Dutch leaves behind her children Bill (Jan) McKague, Anne McKague (Neal Candlish); grandchildren Angie (Mark) Bennett, Julia (James) Wegenast, Tim McKague (Victoria Osler), and a lovely batch of great-grandchildren. Throughout her long and vigorous life, Doris's fierce, indomitable love for her family and country never waned. She maintained a determined - some might say feisty - attitude. She made it her business to create a beautiful home and set a fine table. She cooked, she sewed, she golfed. She wrestled with every new technology that appeared. She left a legacy of beautiful hand-knit sweaters and recipes for chili sauce and mustard pickles. Whatever the adventure, she was in the lead, ignoring the refrain, 'Wait up, Granny.' The quality of her life was greatly enhanced by the enduring friendship of Bill Deuel, a strong and loyal companion, and Janice Marshall, her personal trainer of two decades. Much gratitude is given to the staff of Amica Bayview who made her last years comfortable and safe. For such a tiny person, there remains a huge loss.
