Obituary of Demetria Patsalis
Demetria (Mimi) Patsalis (née Polikretis) passed away suddenly on September 2, 2021. She was the wife of the late Athanasios Patsalis. She is survived by her sister Helen (late Paul Michel LaRue) and her devoted niece Antonia (Toni) Zannis, as well as many other nieces, nephews, relatives and close friends in Canada, the United States and Greece. She was pre-deceased by her siblings, Katharine, Peter, Emmanuel, Kiriaki (Kiki), Pendelis (Del), and Mary.
Demetria survived tuberculosis as a teenager to go on to lead a full and rich life. She took great pride in her career, retiring from CIL after many years of dedicated service. She was transferred from Montreal to Toronto in the 1980’s and there, with her husband Thanos, started a new life and made many close friends. In addition, in retirement, she was proud to complete her university degree. She will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew her. Many thanks go to Anton who provided her with care, support and friendship these last few months.
The family will receive friends for a visitation at the Humphrey Funeral Home A.W. Miles – Newbigging Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville) from 10:30 – 11:45 on Wednesday, September 8th followed by a funeral service at 12:00 noon. As per her wishes, she will be cremated. Demetria’s burial will take place at Mount Royal Cemetery in Montreal at a date and time to be announced. COVID rules will be in place at both the funeral and the burial.
