Sandy was one of four:
We played tennis at Davisville, St Clements, Mayfair, and spent March Breaks in Florida several years also playing tennis.
We went out for dinner after tennis and then when we could no longer play tennis, we would meet for lunch four times a year.
We lost touch during COVID 19 unfortunately.
We will miss our dear friend.
Condolences to her family.
Linda, Marlene and Nicky

I tried to find you many of times throughout the years since last I returned to visit you at Kent in the late 70's. Many of us looked for you at the Kent Reunions in hopes to thank you in person for being such a great teacher. I'd like to believe that it was your style and grace that got me to where and who I am today.
I think it's your sense of humour I will remember most. Always teasing me about my LOOONNGGG eyelashes. lol I sat right in front of your desk so I guess it was hard not to notice them really. lol But I got you good the morning I came in, sat down in front of you and you realized that I had cut all my eyelashes off! LOL The look on your face was PRICELESS! I can still hear you, "Lynn! What did you do?!!!" FYI, they grew back just fine....and yes, it was totally worth it! Hahaha! I'll never forget the giggles it brought. I felt like a teacher's pet that year.....how blessed was I in Grade 7 - 1974/75.
I was thinking of you and all your family/loved ones today (August 30th). Wish I could have been there to pay my last respects and say good-bye but I'm certain that room was overflowing with love and all the great memories you left behind.
Thank you for all you taught me Miss McLaughlan and for all the wonderful memories you gifted to each of your students....including me. Rest well....your work here lives on in all of us.
My condolences to all.

Sandy and I go back even further in her "tennis career" - we played at the Davisville Tennis Club in the 80s already, near where we both lived. Sandy became a wonderful friend and also travel companion, a sailor too, and even got into skiing with some of us, here and in the Eastern US. She was incredibly supportive, smart, fun and thoughtful. I have missed her very much since her illness, and she will continue to live on in my memory.
My deepest sympathy to her family.

Always be remembered and never forgotten.
You lit up the classroom.
Going back ..what I remember the most was your fluttering eyes, smile and beautiful teaching way.
It truly was inspiration to where I am today. May you rest in peace Miss McLauchlan. My condolences to your loved ones.

Dear family of Sandy M: I was so very sad to hear of Sandy's passing. I met Sandy through St. Clement's Tennis Club years ago, and remember what a competitive player she was. She was particularly strong in singles, I recall. We had other things in common, as we both taught for the Toronto District School Board for our entire teaching careers, and shared an interest in ESL and English, were both focused on the middle school age group, (grades 7 & 8), and both derived much satisfaction from helping students with issues. I am not in the least surprised to hear that many of Sandy's former students still remember her fondly, given her level of dedication to her work. Apart from the qualities you mention - Sandy's vigour, her work ethic, her sense of humour - it is the warmth she exhibited that I personally will remember most. Sandy was always interested in my news, supportive of my endeavours, and just a thoroughly positive person. My last encounters with Sandy were at Leaside Tennis Club after her hip surgery when she was trying to build back her tennis game. The strength of character that she showed as she fought to overcome struggles with mobility were memorable. My sincere condolences to all the family on your loss.

Sandy and I played lots of tennis together at St Clements Tennis Club in the 90’s. We played together on the Ladies’ Team and entered the club tournament. We drank lots of coffee after a Saturday morning game and returned to the courts for afternoon play. She had a great serve and volley. We lost touch over the years but I have great memories of conversations and laughter. My condolences to the family.

I have many fond memories of Sandy....fun nights out for dinner with the girls....great holidays in the Caribbean with the girls, and sometimes the boys, particularly at Club Med. Sandy was a caring person, very witty and articulate, with strong inner strength. May she be blessed and rest in peace.
Fondly....Karen Simpson

Sorry for your loss. My fondest memories of Kent Public School are of Art class with Miss McLauchlan, around 1972. If I didn't have that outlet I might not have made it through. She was the kindest teacher. I fondly recall making paper mache masks. I also recall her bringing her brother Murray in to meet us. Condolences to the family.
