Obituary of Patricia Jane Filion

PATRICIA JANE FILION (SHARP)

November 17, 1944 - August 21, 2021

Patricia, in the comforts of her home, surrounded by love and beauty, passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer.

Adored wife to husband of 52 years Roy Filion; loving mother to Kristie (Jamie) and Donna (Ben); adoring Grandma to her four beautiful granddaughters: Leah, Kaelyn, Claire and Madeline. Sister to John (Linda) and predeceased Rose (Carl). Predeceased by her parents, Harold and Margaret Jean Sharp.

Patricia was and will always be the centre of our family. Her devotion to her family’s happiness was always her top priority. She emanated such warmth and light wherever she was; it was impossible not to be captured by her bright essence, beauty and whimsical presence.

Patricia was a lover of the outdoors and nature. Her favourite times were on her walks through her Donalda neighborhood, or up north in Caledon. Weekly family dinners were so important to her and she loved to treat her girls to dinners out. Wednesday’s pasta night at the Donalda Club were a family favourite.

Patricia was an incredible artist and had a passion for painting. Intricate floral designs were her specialty. As a graduate of the Ontario College of Art and Design, she decided to share her talents as a teacher, which her students loved. She met some of her lifelong friends during her time as a grade 4 teacher.

After having her first child, Patricia decided home is where she wanted to be and dedicated her life to raising her family. Throughout this time, she enjoyed playing tennis, golf and skiing up north. Golf was her favourite, and she spent many years enjoying time with her husband Roy on the course. They also made a lot of good friends along the way.

We are extremely grateful for the exceptional care provided through our Palliative Care team and the amazing Personal Care Workers provided through Elder Care. Patricia loved her home and was happy to be comfortable in it throughout this journey. She will live in our hearts and minds forever.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Princess Margaret Hospital or Diabetes Canada. Condolences may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com.

A private ceremony will be held with a celebration of life planned for a future date.
