Obituary of Mary Enid Corelli
Mary died peacefully surrounded by her family at Bridgepoint Health on August 16th at the age of 92. Mary is survived by her 4 children, Stephen Corelli, Catherine D’Agostino, (Tony), Adam Corelli, Gillian Hubbard (Steve), grandchildren, Gillian D’Agostino, Vincent D’Agostino and Charlotte Corelli. Survived by her sister Barbara MacAndrew and many nieces and nephews.
Mary was born in Mahone Bay Nova Scotia on October 23rd, 1928. She went on to study art at Mount Allison University, The Montreal Museum School, Chelsea and St. Martins in London England. She worked as a professional illustrator, painter and writer. She raised four children as a single mother. For decades Mary was a fulltime faculty member at the Ontario College of Art. She is a charter member of the Arts and Letters Club and The Woman’s Art Association of Canada. Mary painted throughout her life and exhibited her work on numerous occasions.
Mary is renowned for her impish sense of humor and her love of all creatures great and small. She was an avid reader and an author of a book of selective poetry that was published. Mary had an ability to make people feel special by her epic ode writing ability, the highlight of many occasions for so many of us. Mary artistic talents were vast and reached beyond the paint brush in hand. From knitting Irish sweaters, gardening and re finishing furniture, she never had idol hands!
