My name is Barry Giblin, I live in Beaverton, Ontario. I knew Norm at Eatons on Hayter St. parcel barns. We used to talk before we both signed out, and I always knew where to find Norm. He was in the wash bay. I said to him one Saturday, "Norm, why are you washing your clean car?" And he said, "you know, it sits in the clean garage all week, and gets dust on it." He must've had the cleanest car in Toronto. I introduced Norm to the Masonic Lodge as someone who worked for the Toronto Roads Department With fingers crossed, he promised we would have straighter roads in the future. Everyone laughed. I hadn't seen Norm since our Eatons days. Things changed. I left parcels, went to heavy goods and furniture, then my permanent job went to shift work. The lodge moved, I married and moved, and we never met again. Every time I wash my car, I will fondly remember Norm. He was one of the good guys. I am sorry for your loss. Rest well, Norm. Until we meet again.
