Obituary of John Murray Peers
After a long and productive life, John passed away suddenly at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre on Thursday, July 29, 2021, his 89th birthday.
Dear and cherished partner of Jean Cormack for 11 years. Predeceased by his wife Isabel, his sister and brother-in-law Margaret and Harley. Loving uncle to Gord (Gerry), Doug (Loralie) and Kathryn (Ross). Adoring of Jean’s daughter Elaine, and son Iain (Michelle).
Born in the east coast, John came to Toronto where he worked at CIBC for most of his active career. He was very involved and a devoted, longtime member of Deer Park United Church in Toronto. John especially enjoyed his later years of life travelling with Jean to the east and west coasts of Canada. John will be remembered for his love of family and friends and will be missed by the many people whose lives were better for knowing him.
A small graveside gathering with family has been held. A memorial service to celebrate John’s life is planned for mid-September. Family and friends are invited to join.
