Loukia Mavromaras

Obituary of Loukia Mavromaras

November 26, 1933 - July 8, 2021

After a wonderful life filled with love, Loukia passed away peacefully, in the arms of her daughter. Our hearts are heavy, and it seems impossible to sum up her life, what she meant to us and how much we cherished her, but here it goes…

Loukia was the loving and devoted wife to Michael for 60 years, loving and cherished Mom of Jim (predeceased) and Marlena. Daughter to Gus and Maria Karavos, and loving sister of John (predeceased) and Marina. Loving mother-in-law to Nick.  Adoring, loving and ever so loved Yaya of Mikey, Jack and Sabrina.

Loukia was a woman of true style and grace. A lover of fashion and design, after high school she attended the Galasso School of Design. She then went to work at downtown Eaton’s, proudly dressing mannequins and Toronto’s downtown windows with flair. She then met Mike, fell in love and together they built a beautiful life. She always said Mike was her diamond in the rough. She adored him and they were truly one, and everything they did in life they did together. Losing her son Jim devastated her, but she went on living with so much strength and courage. Her love of all things beautiful in this world was second only to the love in her heart for her family and friends. She always told Mike, her kids and her grandkids that they were the best things that ever happened to her.

Loukia was the happy homemaker. A gardener through and through, wonderful cook (her meals and desserts were famous), lover of nature, weather, music, and a project person of many kinds. She was down to earth and had an abundance of energy, yet when she sat down with you she always made you feel like she had all the time in the world and that you were so loved. Her door was always open to many. She taught us how to be strong and showed us how to love, and for that we will always be grateful. Her compassionate heart, generous nature, optimism, and cheery outlook will be so dearly missed by all of us. “Don’t Worry be Happy”, “Que Sera Sera” (Whatever Will Be Will Be) and “Here Comes the Sun” were a few of her favourite sayings and songs. Words we will live by. We have peace knowing that you are with Dad and Jimmy now.

A private family service was held.

I love you Mom…you will live on in our hearts forever.
